If Israel, after so many decades of trying to negotiate, suddenly changes course and accepts that this is a war and a fight to the death and behaves accordingly, who could ever fault them?

It depends on the reasonableness of what they choose to fight over. If they settle on what would have been a fair negotiated settlement were it possible to negotiate a settlement, then no one cold blame them, IMO. If they overreach that, then there will be plenty of blame fodder.

I threw up my hands in dismay over the intractability of ME situation a couple of decades ago and pretty much put it out of mind. Now, for the first time, I'm encouraged that things might just be on the right track. I think that the wall and abandoning the settlements are a step in the right direction, at a minimum it's getting out of the rut.
