You do not understand democracy. Why am I not surprised.

Democracy offers equality of economic opportunity. It does not offer equality of economic outcomes. So, it is perfectly consistent with democracy - in fact it is necessary - for there to be billionaires and paupers living side-by-side in the same city.

Any political system that offers equality of economic outcomes is by necessity totalitarian. Even the Europeans, who have sunk deep into socialism, do not yet confiscate the total wealth of the wealthy.

For an economy to create wealth, the most energetic and prolific wealth producers must be able to keep the fruits of their labors. The less energetic and productive should not expect to be able to take by force or by popular vote that which they did not produce.

Do yourself a favor. Go read Adam Smith's "The Wealth of Nations" and Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged." You might learn something.
