In political circles the strategic talk is shifting from Kerry vs. Bush (it is now Kerry's to lose), but to how long are Kerry's coattails. I've heard several pundits say that Congressmen are elected locally and are therefore immune to the "Bad News" Bush disease. Right, I've heard that before. Things are different this time.<g>

I expect to see a number of Republican Congressmen, trying to win reelection in the fall, to start distancing themselves from Bush. Maybe they will criticize his spending, or a safer idea might be to criticize Rumsfeld / Wolfowitz or Cheney.
