An obvious point in hindsight. But try to find if Zinni or any other anti-war types were arguing beforehand that Syria and Iran would pour jihadis into Iraq. They were not, because it would have undermined their 'Saddam has nothing to do with Al Qaeda' argument.

Beware of pols claiming 20/20 hindsight.
