Not a bad idea but what would it stand for?
First of all, we would agree on the idea of American exceptionality, that we are proud to be Americans, and that, if others hold us to a higher standard than the rest of the world, that makes us even prouder.
Because, you see, America is a special place, a place that the rest of the world should be able to look up to, and hope to be like. Not that other countries don't have excellent qualities, too.
Let them strive to emulate us, and we will hold out our hands and help them, but only if they accomplish results instead of jaw-jaw and lip service.
The corollary will be, no more supporting the evil of two lessers or the lessers of two evils.
No whining about "they are monsters, why can't we be monsters, too?" Or even, "they are big monsters, we're just little monsters."
How's that for a beginning?
Just living up to our own standards will take more hours than there are in a day. |
