These folk think that al Qaeda, which was responsible for 90% of terrorism over the last 10 years, and responsible for 9/11, was headquartered in Iraq.

This is incorrect. I do not think that al qaeda was or is headquartered in Iraq.

I frankly don't understand how people can think that shooting at the wrong target is the best strategy. We had them mostly in one place, at one time, and we decided to use the vast resources of our military... to go somewhere else.

this assumes that resources are being diverted away from al qaeda in favor of Iraq. I believe this is a bad assumption. As has been pointed out, a direct military assault is not the proper strategy to go after someone who has declared war on you, who also does not confine themselves to any border. Because you do not see where an attack against Iraq fits into the war on terror (and not necessarily just a war on al qaeda), does not mean that it doesn't have a legitimate place in that strategy.

If people cared about real revenge for 9/11, and really cared about stopping terrorism, they would be incensed about the incompetence. Al Qaeda is terrorism, and al Qaeda grows stronger, the cancer spreads. And we are in the wrong country.

Why are you convinced that the war on terror is a failure? I've seen a number of examples where plots were thwarted. And there hasn't been an attack in our borders since 9/11.
