As for concern only for PR, it was an Army investigation that broke this open and stopped the abuses. Not reporters. Not NGOs. Army.

And I gather you noticed just how quickly the civilian leadership in the Pentagon decided to actually address the problems rather than try to frame it as a public relations problem.

As for the Army report, it took quite a while before reports of torture triggered Tagube's investigation, so the Army didn't exactly jump. But asking Tagube to do it was exactly right. I wonder if Sanchez or Abuzaid knew what they were getting into with him. And how his career is progressing now.
