karen, these Pew results, comparing the Public as a whole against self-described Conservative and Moderate Journalists (Liberal journalists not listed), lends support to my interpretation that "moderate" and even "conservative" in the newsroom are far to the left of "moderate" and "conservative" in the general public, at least on these social litmus test questions: Public \| Cons. journos \| Mod. journos Belief in God necessary 58% 26% 12% Belief in God unnecessary 40% 72% 85% Accept homosexuality 51% 49% 84% Discourage homosexuality 42% 40% 8%
