You Yanks keep bragging about "freedom" but I'm afraid you don't know what you're talking about... I think most Americans cling to a negative notion of freedom, that is, the freedom for rednecks NOT to be goaded by the federal gov. The freedom for Jesus freaks to ENFORCE their way of life upon their fellow citizens... The freedom for whites to keep non-white minorities on the fringes... The freedom for the rich NOT to pay taxes to help the poor... along with the freedom to own guns to shoot the poor-turned-burglar... and also the freedom to pay taxes to build prisons and hire cops to police the unruly.... Somehow the American conception of "freedom" is totalitarian and theocratic.
