your grain comment brings back a memory....I rode a motorcycle through East Germany in the early 80's... My buddy and I were stopped on the side of the rode watching a harvest of wheat. The drivers of the harvester and the dump truck next to him were driving very close together so they could pass a bottle back and forth, as a result the harvester threw the wheat right over the truck and onto the field on the other side...I thought was an apt metaphor for the whole country.
