The entire phonebook was not my idea, it was Aus's, but I am sure he was joking. Again, if it doesn't need too much flash, why not? Well, the current Yellow pages are subsidized by advertisers which could be a problem but the White pages, I don't know how much does it cost to the phone company. If it is cheaper, its a great idea and it may happen someday!
I was referring more to a list of my contacts on a CF card or some other card which can be inserted in a slot in any wired phone or a cordless handset that we use at home at present. Typically, it would work just like they work in some phones that allow you to store 50 contacts (which you have to enter when you start using the phone). Although, I wonder if the handset if off the charger unit would it still retain the data (depends on what kind of memory is being used in these phones). Well, the bottomline is I don't want to keep entering the data everytime I change my home phone or it's battery runs out!
Once we have it on a card, it is easy to maintain by downloading the file on the card from a PC or something. Accessing the contacts is easy- use the number keys to type the first few characters of the last name and the name and number pops-up in the LCD display (just like cellular phones).
