Just so you know I do not belong to any political party and never have. I am non religious and favour none.
I believe that President Bush did what was required to send a very straight forward message to the world of islam, in a language they can understand.
I understand that's the way you and Bush see it. You assume that that message has been delivered successfully with its intent properly in place. I disagree with that conclusion.......I think the approach that Bush used is similar to one often used with a bad child. I am not sure that it works with kids but I am pretty certain it will not work with the Muslims.

He happened to be Christian......my purpose for pointing that out was to show there was no religious intent in its formation; the party did not have roots in Christianity. BTW he also was a school teacher.

Iran and Iraq have feuded for years over who has control over the key Shalt al Arab. Iraq has an important refinery there. Furthermore, Iran has considerable oil and other resources, and more arable soil. Saddam was looking to expand. Saddam would look for any excuse to attack a neighboring country......it would not surprise me if he used religious differences as an excuse but that does not change the fact that he was secular.

Neither one of us are OBL so we can only speculate what he thinks about the US but every indication he gives is that he wants the US out of Saudi Arabia specifically and the ME generally. I think you may be taking things too far when you say "submit".

I'm sorry but in the past three years, serious terrorist activity has increased.......in Iraq alone, there have been so many terrorist incidents in the past year, I've lost count. And then there's Riyadh, Yeman, Casablanca, Turkey, Madrid, Indonesia.....the list is long and growing longer. I have no sense that al Qaeda has been weakened.

BTW its al Qaeda or Qaida. There was an article late last year that said Muslims in Europe have been giving money hand over fist to al Qaeda. In addition, there was a report this year that the US and other countries have been unsuccessful at freezing all of al Qaeda's accounts.
