Yes, well, the estimate of 18,000 is just that--an estimate. Pulled from assumptions that may or may not be valid. No one in the West really knows how many "fighters" went through those camps, nor, I suspect, even how many "camps" there were, nor if there were similar camps in other places.

The point isn't some phantom number that someone pulls from his/her behind. The point to me is that we widened the war on Al Qaeda with our actions in Iraq, and have worsened an already bad situation. There was a reason the guy got "C"s in an Ivy League school that awarded a C to people whose bodies were present on campus and didn't do too many drugs other than alcohol (I knew people who went to Yale in the late 60s and early 70s).
