GARDEN GROVE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 26, 2004--
DPAC's 802.11b Wireless LAN Node Module accelerates Syscan's development and time-to-market
Airborne(TM) Module well suited for RFID system designed to function in harsh and difficult operating environments
Syscan International, Inc. (TSX:SYA - News), a publicly traded North American company announced today that it has selected the Airborne(TM) Wireless LAN Node Module from DPAC Technologies (NASDAQ:DPAC - News) for its newest Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) asset tracking system. The new RFID system is one of Syscan's supply chain management solutions designed specifically to meet requirements in a variety of industries that characteristically function in harsh and difficult operating environments.

"The Airborne Wireless LAN Node Module allowed us to get to market quicker than any other solution we evaluated," said Jean-Jacques Hagens, Head of Engineering for Syscan. The AirborneDirect(TM) - Serial Bridge has also been extremely useful for proof of concept as there was no need to design a new printed circuit board. The programmers could immediately develop their software. In addition, the Airborne Wireless LAN Node Module offers a lot more capabilities which enable us to use its programmable inputs and outputs, therefore reducing considerable amount of components on the printed circuit board."

"We're pleased to have been selected by an internationally recognized industry leader," said Kim Early, CEO for DPAC. "We are especially gratified by Syscan's appreciation of the industrial performance produced by the Airborne module which enabled them to quickly implement a wireless networking solution."

The Airborne(TM) and AirborneDirect(TM) family of products provide wireless networking solutions to OEMs requiring industrial grade performance and a quick time-to-market. The wireless products were first introduced to market in September of 2003 and have quickly earned their way into dozens of OEM designs. DPAC has successfully adhered to an aggressive product launch plan and a commitment to leading the OEM market for wireless networking solutions.
