On Clarke and Saudis, here is the part you always leave out.

I did not leave anything out. I simply posted the article from The Hill without editorial comment.

The article does address the point that you raise.

This new account of the events seemed to contradict Clarke’s sworn testimony before the Sept. 11 commission at the end of March about who approved the flights.

There does appear to be a disconnect between Clarke's comments from yesterday and his sworn testimony. If he was completely candid to The Hill, which by the way, is very reputable and non-partisan, it suggests that his testimony before the commission was disingenuous. I am going to refrain from any editorial comments about Clarke until we have more information.

Assuming that Clarke was the decision maker, I feel that he made the appropriate decision. The names were apparently vetted with the FBI and if the Saudis, particularly the bin Ladens, had remained in the U.S. post 9/11, their presence could have become a political football. That would have been an unfortunate distraction.
