Do you honestly believe the Israeli approach is more humane?

In general yes. Of course that doesn't mean that Israel should be able to slide on its abuses anymore then the abuse of Iraqi prisoners was ok just because in general the US has treated its prisoners much better then Saddam or the people who captured Berg did.

As for the Gaza story.

1 - The reason for the incusrsion was to shut down or destroy tunnels that where being used to bring in weapons and explosives for terrorists.

2 - In any war innocent civilians get killed. Its very unfortunate, but the chance that Israeli soldiers intentionally killed that three year old girl is almost nil. The Palestinian terrorists on the other hand do deliberatly murder children. And also send children to die either in suicide bombings or in attacks against superior Israeli forces. If they try to shoot Israeli soldiers and get killed then the Palestinans get headlines about Israel killing Palestinian children.

"beginning with the killing of a pregnant Israeli woman and her four children by terrorists near a Gaza settlement, according to witnesses and Israeli military sources.

The family had been on its way to campaign for a no vote in a referendum among Likud party members on whether to approve Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's plan to withdraw Israeli troops and settlers from Gaza and from parts of the West Bank. (Full story)

After the attack, two gunmen were killed by Israeli soldiers on Kissufim Road in Gaza, which leads to the Gush Katif settlements, the military sources said.

The Popular Resistance -- an amalgamation of several armed Palestinian groups including Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Fatah military wing -- took responsibility for the attack in a leaflet distributed in Gaza City.

A settler spokesman identified the victims as 34-year-old Tali Hatuel, who was eight months pregnant, and her four children: Hila, 11; Hadar, 9; Roni, 7; and Merav, 2."
