Actually, depending on the country, Muslim women can lead pretty much ordinary lives. Afghanistan had a lot of women doctors, lawyers, college professors, scientists, before the Taliban. As did Iran before the Ayatollah took over.
It's not Islam, per se, that forces women into chador. The Koran says dress modestly, but doesn't specify how.
Back to ultra Orthodox Jewish women. I say it's traditional for them not to drive, or work outside the home except that in America, ones whose husbands are scholars are allowed to work behind the counter in family businesses or teaching school, stuff like that. Otherwise, they should stay home. You say I don't know what I am talking about. Why? Because I am not Jewish? Is what I said false?
