It is not in the pronunciation or the spelling. It is about the image that a person portrays when during his speech he stumbles three to four times before proceeding further in completing the sentence. The image that it sends to my mind is that "Are you asking me what the situation in Abu whatever is? Geez I don't even know how to pronounce it. How do you expect me to know what is going on there."

Hope I have made myself clear. It is not pronunciation especially in modern times where we talk about globalization where we have people with different accents and varying levels of mastery of different languages. We are willing to provide that leeway, I presume.
