Rock > Such is life. I guess things could be worse?!?
You have put your finger on it. The truth is we are all powerless to effect any meaningful change that to get upset about the status quo is an exercise in futility. Although I live far from America, the influence of capitalism is all-pervasive and, indeed, if one takes an interest in investments, as I do, one is obliged to keep up with developments in the US and other major markets. This gives insights into socio-political factors, too.
The world is so small today and the internet and TV make it even smaller. You find it strange that I am reasonably well-informed about the US. In fact, I have observed developments in the US for a long time and, moreover, the US being the first so-called democracy in the world has set the standard for all countries. Not so much in the advertised way, but in the way that the various "freedoms" have had to be fought for. Liberty does not come easily or cheaply -- to anyone.
As you say, capitalism is flawed, so are all other systems -- and, indeed, so is the human being. There is no Utopia. No-one is perfect. We can only do the best we can. |
