Good for him. Free speech is still a part of American culture. If free speech dies, America as we know it will have died too, and what would the War on Terror be worth fighting for then? Americans don't speak with one mind. We disagree over things like war. Good for Al Gore for representing part of American public opinion in such a public manner. Why is it that "conservatives" are always so appalled when someone actually speaks their mind and holds opinions different than their own? Seems like they're rather insecure in their opinions and don't like the negative reinforcement that they feel when someone voices a differing one than their warmongering opinions.

What I think is REALLY crazy about this country is not Howard Dean or Al Gore and their rantings. I think what is absolutely nuts is the fact that we don't even have a real debate about such grave matters as war. The Constitution clearly states that Congress has the power to declare war, yet we're involved in two undeclared wars at the same time. Also, why is it that there's always money availble for the military, but domestic priorities go unfunded for decades. This country is being massively mismanaged. What's crazy is that we don't have a debate about how we spend our money. $200 Billion could go a really long way to make America a better place to live. What a damn waste!
