"I sincerely fear for the fate of this country if it is taken over by the Democrats."

A Democrat dominated administration could effectively lead us forward if all the politicized and unproductive bickering were to stop. Even Kerry might be able to take the reigns from Bush and lead our current operations to a positive conclusion. It is likely that some of the lame European politicians would start doing the right thing if they could save face by supporting Kerry.

However, the best outcome I can imagine would be for the decent people living in a democracy to stand up and demand that their leaders take a stand and speak up for the honorable efforts of the US govt. Which would likely also lead to another term for Bush.

Unfortunately, if our people continue to engage in this insincere politicized bickering that is more about supporting thier choice in which end of the egg to open (see: lilliputions) than in supporting what is good and decent ... we are doomed as a society.
