This is a very deep game that's being played.

Sistani would be murder at the poker table. He is terribly impressive.

Sistani knows he can't challenge the US with force or otherwise, and so he bides his time and waits while Young Firebrands like Sadr sign their death warrants and otherwise miscalculate.

Any idea of what he will be like when we leave or otherwise do not exert as much influence as we presently do?

He merits careful study since he will be the premier political power in post-7/1/04 Iraq.
