There's nothing preventing what they call a fusion ticket of Kerry a Democrat vs. McCain a Republican. It's not against the law or anything like that. I don't think it's against the major party's bylaws either, which would prevent it from happening. Of course, it would fuel people's frustration that there's not a huge difference between the two main political parties. And, it would probably cause McCain to get booted from the Republican party. Although they can't kick him out, they would shun him like the plauge. But, it would certainly be a slam dunk for Kerry. It would be hard to imagine Kerry losing with McCain on his ticket. Which is probably why there's still speculation that he might entice McCain to join him.
