To be more specific, the false dichotomy takes a specific policy like occupying Iraq and says if you don't agree with that policy, that proves that you hate America, Americans, freedom, democracy or some other broad subject that is intrinsically good. Again, when Rush and Sean and Bill and the other hatemongers use this device EVERY SINGLE DAY, the average Joe is going to believe it's valid. Anyone who objects is stuck with the "when did yo stop beating your wife" dilemma. It will go on until people stop believing it. Don't hold your breath.
