qdog, it makes absolute sense. can't you see all the ceos of major telecom company ceos saying, "hey, let's go with cdma even though it costs as much and is no better than tdma or gsm - the long time standards in the industry. sure, there is only one handset manufacturer. so what. "cdma" sounds better so it gets my vote. ;-) sure, taking huge risks on new technology with no gains happens all the time... kind of like companies that survive on royalties from industry standards... this is especially true when $1,000,000,000s are at stake. what the heck, it's tax deductable... ;-)
