I'm sure the Bush cabal has some dirty tricks up their sleves. How about catching Bin Laden a week before the election to boost Bush? If that happens you know we live in one big conspiracy in which our emotions are engineered to react to different situations.

I'm not counting Bush out, it's a little too far out to do that and as you pointed out the Bushies aren't dummies, they'll counter-attack for sure. Hopefully, it won't become and ugly-fest like George Bush, Sr. destroying Michael Dukaksis in 1988.

But all things being even, Kerry is sitting very pretty at this point. If Bush settles Iraq, so what? The damage is done at this point. Also, if he settles Iraq, it might cause the economy to slow down a bit, which won't help in November. It will be a long summer for sure, with many ups and downs, but come Labor Day if Bush hasn't pulled ahead of Kerry (especially after the Republican convention), you can put a fork in him, he's done. A lot will depend on who Kerry picks for VP and what kind of message he puts together. The election is Kerry's to lose at the moment.
