Baird,

I can't answer your question on competitors, but it seems to me that Pharmacopeia's technical edge derives from their molecular tagging system, which is patented. The patent issued October 1996 is U.S. Patent No. 5,565,324 "Complex combinatorial libraries encoded with tags". It appears to be a relatively broad method patent with no restriction on the identifiers except attachment to a solid support. They will have an advantage over others using "pool and synthesis" if their tagging technology gives them a superior method for identifying the active compounds.

IBM Patent Server shows abstract, claims, and references: patent.womplex.ibm.com
No other patent in their database has referenced this one.

If you give any credence to technical analysis, take a look at On Balance Volume for PCOP on daily charts - OBV is making new highs. Also, as of 8/20 close Bollinger Bands are at 15.0 upper, 14.4 middle, 13.9 lower, with relative bandwidth versus four month average of only .36, indicating an increase in volatility is likely soon.
