Technology Primer and Hands-On Installation Demonstrate the Ease
and Profitability of Offering High Speed Internet Access

AURORA, Ill., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Westell (NASDAQ:WSTL) announced
today that two Westell executives will present xDSL technology at the Internet
Service Provider Convention '97 (ISPCON '97) in San Francisco, August 20
through 23. ISPCON '97 is the largest gathering dedicated to Internet Service
Providers throughout the Internet industry. Additional information on ISPCON

Curtis Benton, President of Westell Worldwide Services, Inc., a subsidiary
of Westell Technologies, will demonstrate the installation of an ADSL system
and connection to the Internet. Easy hardware set-up and software
configuration will be performed while Mr. Benton presents the logistics which
must be considered by ISPs prior to purchasing xDSL systems. The
demonstration will be held Friday, August 22, at 4:30 p.m. in Room Cont 5 of
the San Francisco Hilton & Towers.
Marc Zionts, Senior Vice President of DSL Sales at Westell will make a
presentation entitled "xDSL: How ISPs Can Profit NOW." Mr. Zionts will
present an xDSL technology overview and discuss the impact of xDSL on the
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) marketplace, the services they can provide
to their customers, and the profitability of xDSL. Mr. Zionts will also
discuss how to get into the xDSL business immediately without the typical
hurdles associated with new technology. The presentation will begin at 1:30
p.m. on Saturday, August 23, in Room Fran A of the San Francisco Hilton &
Towers.

the switching network. SuperVision reduces the cost to service providers for
full-scale deployment of multimedia services such as high-speed Internet
access, video-on-demand, and remote LAN access. The Carrierless Amplitude
Phase Modulation (CAP) -based DSL line modules are rate adaptive and will
operate at speeds ranging from 640 kbps to 7.1 Mbps downstream and 272 kbps to
1.088 Mbps upstream.
