14.05.2004
Yesterday AO MOSENERGO held a press conference to sum up results of Heating Grids for the 2003-2004 heating season. The conference was attended by deputy chief engineer of AO MOSENERGO for heating equipment Dmitry Barshak, chief engineer of Heating Grids Viktor Lipovskikh, head of Mosteplosyetenergoremont and head of heating maintenance equipment of AO MOSENERGO Mikhail Fedorov.
Dmitry Barshak opened the conference by saying that in accordance with the order from the Moscow Government, the date for switching off heat in the capital was scheduled for May 5. The first in line were administrative facilities, followed by residential blocks. At public-care facilities such as kindergartens, schools, polyclinics and hospitals, heating would be switched off last.
This year, the maintenance campaign in Heating Grids began on May 10. The company plans to hold hydraulic testing and maintenance work on 2,240 km of heating lines in order to detect and eliminate technical faults and worn out equipment. The preventive maintenance is a necessary prerequisite for a smooth heating season. The detection and elimination of potential breakdowns in heating grids during the summer guarantees reliable heat supply for millions of Muscovites in the winter, Dmitry Barshak said.
This year under the maintenance program the Company plans to replace pipes that are in total 90 km long including 12 km of pipes insulated with polyurethane foam. Similar to past years, Heating Grids will continue to install corrugated expansion joints which will make it possible to reduce leaks and improve the Company’s performance. In addition, in II-III quarters AO MOSENERGO will complete the construction of Businovo main heating line and Businovo pump station.
Throughout the heating season, AO MOSENERGO ensured reliable heating for all its customers. There were no emergencies. The number of minor breakdowns decreased two times compared to last year heating period. —Such high results in winter became possible due to the high level of equipment preparation, modern technical testing techniques, quality control (including hydraulic testing and elimination of found faults), as well as high qualifications of AO MOSENERGO and contractor’s personnel, Barshak said.
AO MOSENERGO is the biggest heat supplier in Moscow as 77% of heat is supplied by the company’s power stations. As of early 2004, the length of AO MOSENERGO’s lines exceeded 2 240 km. |
