He opposed Bush mainly in running against him, and because they differ on campaign finace reform (or used to differ Bush has mostly caved to McCain on this one) which is an important issue for McCain. However if you look at his overall voting record and position statements they are a lot closer to Bush then to Kerry's. Tim
