I wonder what the USA would do in response to such an attack.

Let's hope we never have to find out Mq. I think the grownups in Washington DC understand what we are dealing with, and doing what they can do to prevent such a possibility. It could still happen. If it does, I think you are correct when you said:

"If, as threatened for some time, their attack is bigger and better, we are in big trouble and we really will be in WWIII."
