As a born optimist I see glass half full others may see otherwise as half empty. The very reason that in our country we can write so freely on issues that deal with integrity of a dictator points to me that we should be grateful, under Shariiff our Editor Najam Sethi was picked up in the darkness of night by the so called democrats, these so called democrats the reason we detest them is one they were about to Islamize the constitution pf Pakistan radically using their 2/3rd majority. It is a disgrace to live under dictatorship but I would rather accept a benevolent dictator under doctrine of necessity a evil that needs to be digested, who is ready to address the issues facing mankind than a democrat who would take us back to medieval times. Buried in these pages are my condemnation of Musharrif on Kargil, on overthrow of Shariff on Pakistani intervention in Kashmir, however the changes brought by Bush doctrine has been focus of my posts here, the changes have brought new realism to the fore and we have been the biggest benefactors, the core issue is has Bush doctrine helped stabilized very volatile about to go into oblivion societies or not, I think very much so, if I concede that I have no problems in admitting that cancers of society presented by lurking dangers of extremism are now being radically exterminated, these were the cells that were as I have repeatedly written growing under the tutelage of pre 911! Radical policies of confluence of wahabbi and Pakistani administration are now become the biggest threats to Saudi And Pakistani society, had it not been for Bush Doctrine of activist intervention we would not have seen the elimination of radicals at sped which is excellent, the unreported part of extermination of these cells is hardly reported, one can see peace initiatives driving from lesser tensions on Pak Indian borders, one can see the eradication of nuke transfer technology networks headed Qadeer, one can see Libya and Iran confirming to new controls, we can some rights and freedoms being accorded to women, at bottom of it every fault can be accorded to previous policies that we here have been confronting and rejecting but as new realities grow we change and the change of times has helped me to bring the important part of the story that is never told by the media, the
part of accomplishments which are being made, the ability of people to muzzle my optimism is shocking, the whole global media thinks that it is a Bush fiasco, I consider this as a period of reawakening a period of Islamic renaissance that we missed. Never before a consistent policy of intervention and follow-up of eradication of these growing dangers wee pursued and never before this growing danger was fully evaluated, post 9911 we are in a new world and new realties have to be appreciated, if Mush would have acted like what he use to do pre 911 We could have suffered the fate of Afghanistan.

The issue is correction or retribution, I see correction of stance albeit after major false starts as a good beginning the avoidance of situation where every author nightmare was Pakistan falling in extremist trap. I do hear loud lamentations like this but I believe that we are on the mend..

<Of course we are not a meltdown state. Of course we are not headed
the way of Gorbachev's Russia. Or, worse, the death and destruction
of Afghanistan. We have resilience and talent. We grow our own food
(or at least have begun to). If for fifty years we have survived
incompetent and corrupt government, there is something to be said
for our powers of endurance.

But the question remains. Why cannot we put our affairs in order?
For this, no miracles are required, only a measure of sound and
honest government. Once we have this the economic pundits can take
over. But if even this bare minimum eludes us then it is time to
call in the astrologers and soothsayers. What have we done, what
sins committed, to so earn the implacable wrath of the heavens?
