I think the Flanders character may be the most complex in the series. His parents were hippies. Is his boring personality really REBELION against his parents? He went through "spanking therapy" - the Minnesota Spanking Protocol - for 5 years. He lost his house, his business, and his wife. He questioned his faith. Came through it all unfazed, faith intact, and never let his kids down.

I don’t think Ned is a stereotype at all. Now that awful pastor of his church………
