Tek anticipates 5 fold increase in printer revenue by 2001. Tektronix is expanding printer mfg. capacity and hiring 500 people to support anticipated sales volume increase for business color printers. The article appeared on the front page of today's (8/21/97) Oregoninan newspaper. The article cited that printers is approx. 30% of Tek revenue and that this market is expected to rise from 178 million to 1.1 billion by 2001. This anticipated sales volume increase is expected to come from lowering the price point of the Tek Business printers according to the article.
