Europeans love America, but distrust the far right. They will all be celebrating in the streets when Kerry wins and they will open their arms to America again. I know, I have spent a lot of time there. I understand them as well as I understand the typical person from Peoria.
Remember, the Nazis were far right too and they created a "minor" problem for Europe. You may not believe that Bushies ressemble Nazis, but they have crept toward that borderline in a number of ways. Cheney, Rove, Delay, Hannity, Coulter, Ashcroft, Falwell, people like that all have streaks of their own type of neo-Nazism in them. Who knows what Bush has in him. Whatever Rove and Cheney tell him to, I guess.
People in Europe are a lot smarter and well informed than you might think. They know more about American politics than many Americans. They follow our elections very carefully. They didn't mind Reagan or Bush Sr. so much, but they cannot stand Bush and Cheney, though after 9-11 they offered to do whatever we wanted. Anything. Since then Bush-cheney have blown all that goodwill, and a lot more. Europeans in general now see Bush-Cheney as almost as much of a threat as Al Qaida. In terms of war, environmentalism and the global economy, they have a point actually. Bush-Cheney have done the world a great deal of harm. fortunately however, their end is near. |
