I'm sure whoever winds up in power in Iraq, they will ultimately be a puppet (or client) of the American government. They will be dependent on the U.S. for funding and for security logistics to keep the country running. Kind of like the Shah of Iran was. Let's hope the U.S. doesn't install what eventually becomes another dictator in Iraq. There's a pretty good chance that will happen, despite the pro-democracy rhetoric out of Washingotn. Democracy is way down on the list of Washington's concerns, oil revenues trump all other concerns, and making sure the right people have a piece of the action. I am kind of surprised by that article, saying the CPA didn't allocate money to rebuild Iraq's oil infrastructure. There's big money for Bechtel and Halliburton in oil services contracts, also new and improved oil infrastructure means more oil revenue. Perhaps they're just hiding that money from the official reports, so it's harder to track, and work is being done on the oil infrastructure clandestinely? Who knows?
