Wrong. The United States, in fact, did support Stalin BEFORE the United States was at war with Germany! The Lend Lease Act was passed by Congress in either March or April of 1941. The United States began sending equipment to the Soviets in October 1941. October 1941 comes before December 1941. The fact that the United States was already trying to sink German ships in the Atlantic, and were supplying Britain and the Soviets, is probably a reason that Hitler went ahead and declared war on the U.S. in December 1941.

The United States, Britain and the Soviet Union were in fact Allies, and it was on design. One of the problems, was that several highly placed members of FDR's staff were Soviet Agents, and as a result, the Soviets had an advantage in the negotiations that determined Post War Europe.
