Scott, PMAT is not in a NICHE industry, they have products that compete in a $5 to $6 billion industry. Poly, Metal and Oxide etch, they have recently added alot more with the acqusition of Electrotech.
Regarding the ability to make it and becoming a major vendor in the future, That is a big concern, however, if you look at their management i think u will be impressed. Most of the people are from AMAT, LRCX, SVGI, etc.
The board is made up of who's who in the industry. Rollwagen, was the founder of Cray computer, Mizuno, senior VP of technology at Mitushita, Thompson, ex VP of Motorola worldwide semiconductor sales. Anyways it's worth a look.
I think between the management and the board, they have the experience to grow PMAT into a major SEMITOOL company.
