Never in history has a nation gone to war with such a fierce commitment to avoidance of civilian casualties and unnecessary collateral damage. Never. Even to the extent that we have literally allowed enemy to take up positions in mosques, unrequieted until the enemy fire becomes such a danger our soldiers can no longer tolerate it.

War is violent by its nature. But the United States has consistently, since the Gulf War, focused its violence on enemy combatants in a way no other military in history has done. The end result is liberation of a nation of 25 million people with an unbelievably low casualty count, on both sides.
