40 Days of Prayer : Day 17 Study this Book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed. I command you – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord you God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:8,9
Let God's word be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path morning by morning. May we say as the Psalmist did, I rejoice at Your Word as one who finds great treasure. (Ps. 119:162) The prophet Isaiah also sought the Lord's word daily. The Sovereign Lord has given me His words of wisdom, so that I know what to say to all these weary ones. Morning by morning He wakens me and opens my understanding to His will. The Lord has spoken to me, and I have listened. (Is. 50:4,5)
As we study, read, and meditate on God's word, may our prayers become saturated with the life of His word. Herbert Lockyer said this about praying scripture, "the mightiest prayers are often those drenched with the Word of God. " I pray the Lord would give us an insatiable hunger for His word today and that His word would continually be on our lips, our hearts and our minds. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. (John 6:63)
