So I am sorry you and Canyon Dweller have your judgement tarnished by a poor experience in the military..

In the spirit of reciprocity, I want you to know that I am happy that you never had your eyes opened by the experience of being a combat soldier serving at the direction of civilian and military leaders who were generally inept, unethical and who would have valued your life for it's strategic and political importance only.

And don't tell me "say it ain't so this time." It's almost always that way and if you've been paying attention to the big and the little screwups in Iraq, and the lies that those responsible for those screwups are covering them with, you won't need to ask for proof.

So I'm glad that you enjoyed and prospered from your 6 years in the Navy, but don't presume to understand the difference between serving in peacetime at the whim of men with the power to choose your job and your location, versus serving in wartime at the whim of men with the power to send you to your death for reasons which they'd deem insufficient if it was them or their kids who were facing death.

With respect to the oil crisis, if it's as dire as you believe it to be, and I agree that it is, then why aren't we looking for ways to alleviate the crisis that don't solely rely upon securing control of the light, sweet and readily accessible oil reserves that belong to SOMEONE ELSE?
