Where did I ever say federal taxes in my original post? Last year I paid substantially more in local taxes than in federal taxes. I think many Americans do, when you add it up.

Tax breaks are a funny thing.

Look at it this way.

I hereby declare that you, AS, owe me $10,000.

Oh, but since you're a Bush supporter, I'll give you half off so you only have to pay $5,000.

Aren't you grateful for the $5,000 break Ijust gave you? Whoopee, you're $5,000 richer than you were just a few minutes ago. Go buy your wife something really special to show how much you love her.

The answer is for the government to delare a 100% tax rate. Then give everybody a 70% tax break. Whoopee, we're all rich!!!!
