Kerry will not fall for that tricky trap. Sorry. He's not going to promise anything that isn't paid for, or can't be paid for. Rightwingers will have to try another ploy. I know they used that trick on McBride during the Florida gov's race. When he couldn't explain how'd pay for smaller class sizes without raising taxes, Jeb used it to club him over the head and win.

Kerry is much smarter. Any promise he makes will be contingent upon being able to afford it after we start paying off the Bush deficits without raising taxes on the middleclass. His two main promises are to pay off the deficits and not raise taxes on the middleclass. true he can save a lot of money in various ways and cut spending but how much exactly remains to be seen. We still have no idea how big Bush's deficits will be, maybe in the multi trillions. We also don't know how much the war will cost.
