Now: Where is YOUR evidence that Glaspie (get the spelling right; it might fool some into thinking you know what you're talking about) knew the US would invade Iraq if it invaded Kuwait?

Mea Culpa on the spelling. I'm not the best speller in the world.

I didn't say that Glaspie knew anything. But given the gravity of the situation, with Saddam amassing his army on the Kuwait border, one might assume that regular communication was taking place between Glaspie and the administration.

US Ambassadors are not supposed to casually toss out threats to go to war, you know.

Would not have expected her to threaten war. But she might have articulated the US position of "grave consequences" if Saddam chose the invasion route. While I don't blame Glaspie for not extending the message, I certainly blame Bush for not having Glaspie deliver that message, or deliver it himself.

That might have prevented Gulf War 91, and saved many innocent lives in Kuwait.
