I don't think you can glorify war that way. For some the "flavor" isn't so good. How else do you explain the statistically swollen numbers of Vietnam vets that have committed suicide?

As for me, I don't regret having served in combat, but I wouldn't want anyone else to have to do it again. If there's wisdom to be gained in battle, and there is, I think there are other, maybe slower, ways to garner that wisdom.

It's just too bad that our current president apparently never gained enough of that wisdom to understand the horror and limitations of war, even after 55 years of life.
