I'm not sure that terrorists ala Al Qaeda are technically a "totalitarian ideology", but more a "theocratic nationalistic movement". It is religious and dogmatic, much like our President's deference to Christian scripture and prayer.

I think since Bush is considering scripture and praying to solve the world problems he's helping to create, he should at least let us, the electorate, know which scriptural reference he is meditating upon, and let us know how he knows it's God and NOT Satan, the Great Deceiver, from who he gets his guidance.

As for the bombing of Japan, I'm not sure we saved quite so many lives considering how much bombing we'd already done. Recently I saw statistics on how many cities we'd destroyed (70 - 80%). Then there's the fire bombing of Tokyo. The Japanese enemy in 1941 was 30 years in the making, arising from some provocations by the U.S. in the West Pacific and Japanese reactions to strong arm politics at the turn of the century. JMO. It's hard to know how it could have been because we really didn't try very hard to be liked worldwide 1900-1920's.
