Apparently there is a large number of French who are quite concerned over the Arab influence in France as well.

I remember some anti-foreigner (cough-muslim) group got a lot of votes in the last elections.
As you know, France in general likes to go out of their way to preserve the "french-way". Looks like their open borders may have jumped up and bit them.
