gaston, re: 1. From what I've seen, Pentium II sales haven't been all that great. I figure it'll pick up but right now it seems like people aren't willing to pay the premium for the better performance, they rather settle for Pentium 200's.

imo, i think PII sales are doing great, but is not getting much visibility at the consumer retail sector YET. I believe Intel is currently targeting PII systems for the business workstation/low-end server markets. I don't think they're pushing too hard yet on the consumer retail front because of volume issues and they don't want to cannabalize their MMX systems too early too fast (rememer what happened to Pentium sales early this year when Intel pushed MMX too hard). But, i think PII will be getting more visibility this Fall/ early Winter just in time for Christmas retail sales!!! Even now, i'm starting to hear/read a few more ads targeting PII systems.

This sounds like a good strategy to me. My advice: buy all the Intel you can right now, because the rest of the year promises to be a hum-dinger!
