I am sure that you are correct. It's the "when it becomes available" bit I was expressing dissatisfaction with.
Body armor is another item of technology which should be a no-brainer, but is not as available as it should be.


Battlefield Communications is much more complicated than you might ever imagine. You cannot have every service on the same bandwidth...You cannot have every local unit on the same frequency. You cannot use the same daily codes, passwords, or crypto material across the entire battle area.
And you usually cannot get radios from different countries to talk to each other which was the case with Tillman's unit.

Body armor is readily available. The latest and greatest upgrade that weighs a coupla pounds less and offers a bit more protection is what the politicians are yelling about. But very adequate body armor is out there. Ask any Nam vet who was in the field.
