Re: The ME is where the bulk of our oil comes from and where the bulk of the reserves are, that's why it's so critical and militarily strategic.

That's been the US's coverup all along: oil as a way to rationalize the occupation of the Arabian Peninsula and conceal your real worry, namely, Israel and Jerusalem...

Of course, Saudi Arabia represents the bulk of your (foreign) oil reserves... because you fixed it that way! If you had spent all the money on prospecting and drilling in West Africa then the latter would have displaced Saudi Arabia as your key supplier... But then, you'd have had a hard time explaining why you need to maintain hundreds of thousands of troops in the Mideast, wouldn't you?

As for Arab countries colluding to boycott the US, that would amount to political suicide! Keep in mind that for Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, even Iran, oil is their one and only staple to get a piece of global trade... If they don't want to sell their oil to the US monopsony what else are they gonna trade? Consumer electronics? Automobile? Foodstuff? Fabrics? Household appliances? Coal? Computer software? Aircraft? Camels? Flying carpets? It would not be long before a clique of frustrated civil servants and military officers topples their anti-US regime....
